Here is a Top 10 list a city does not necessarily want to be a part of – The Top 10 Allergy Capitals in the U.S. Each year, the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America publishes a report of the cities most affected by spring and fall allergies.(1) Three factors are considered when developing the report: higher than average spring and fall pollen, use of allergy medications, and number of board certified allergists. According to the foundation, the spring allergy begins with pollen from trees. Next comes grass pollen, followed by weed pollen in the late summer and early fall. Mold is also an issue in the fall, often found in piles of fallen leaves. If you suffer – you’re far from alone! Seasonal allergies affect more than 35 million people in the U.S.
